Aurele J. Cormier, 96, of New Port Richey, FL, formerly of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, January 26, 2021, in Marliere Hospice House, New Port Richey, FL, after a period of declining health.
Born in St. Paul, New Brunswick, Canada, on August 20, 1924, he was the son of the late Hector and Sarah (Allain) Cormier. Aurele was a machinist employed by Simplex Time Recorder of Gardner for 12-years until his retirement in 1987. He was previously employed by Thayer MFG of Gardner for 27-years.
Aurele was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish/ Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner and its League of Sacred Heart and attended Our Lady Queen of the Peace Church, New Port Richey, FL. He was a member of the Acadien Social Club of Gardner. Aurele loved to play cards, golfing and before moving to Florida, Aurele enjoyed going ice fishing. He also enjoyed watching television, never missing a rerun of the Golden Girls or an episode of Jeopardy.
Aurele is survived by a special nephew, Roger LeBlanc and his wife Murielle of Inverness, FL; several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife of 61-years, Lorraine M. (Richard) Cormier, who died in 2014; his brother, Edmond J. Cormier; and three sisters, Geneva LeBlanc, Edith Cormier, and Aline Cormier.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2021, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA, will be held at a later date.
