Violet Arsenault

February 17, 1930 — May 28, 2022

Violet “Vi” (Goguen) Arsenault, 92, of Gardner, died peacefully Saturday, May 28, 2022, in her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Gardner on February 17, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Olivier and Regina (Bastarache) Goguen. Vi was a Domestic Worker employed by various households throughout the years until her retirement in 2008.

Vi was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish/ Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner where she was a member of its Ladies of Ste. Anne Society. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and watching television especially EWTN and Lifetime Networks. Vi was an excellent poutine maker and enjoyed volunteering her time at the annual church Bazaar. Her greatest joy was found when she was with her family, especially her children and grandchildren treasuring all the special times they had together.

Vi is survived by her daughter, Darlene M. O’Connell and her husband John of Worcester; two sons, Norman P. Arsenault and his wife Doris of Westminster and Donald O. Arsenault and his wife Cheryl of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren, Michael Arsenault. Gisele St. Pierre and Nicole O’Connell; two great-grandchildren, Polina Arsenault and Sophia St. Pierre; a brother, Alderice Goguen and his wife Delma of Gardner; four sisters, Oniva Goguen of St. Marie, NB, Canada, Verna Albert of St. Antoine, NB, Canada, Aldea Arsenault and her husband Noel of Gardner, and Gloria Maillet and her husband Romeo of St. Marie, NB, Canada; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband of 57-years, Philip Arsenault, who died in 2010; and two sisters, Leona Vidal and Dianna Harnois.

The family would like to thank the Aging Servies of North Central Massachusetts and VNA Care of Worcester for the loving and compassionate care of Vi through this difficult time.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 27, 2022, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA will be private.

A Calling Hour will be held Monday, June 27, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
