Therese M. (Bourque) Gustafson, 97, of Winchendon, formerly of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Broadview Assisted Living in Winchendon, following a period of declining health.
Born in Gardner on July 12, 1928, she was the daughter of the late David and Eugenie (Roy) Bourque. She graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1946 and continued her education at Fitchburg State College. She devoted 33 years of dedicated service to the City of Gardner as Assistant City Treasurer, retiring in 1990.
Teri was a devoted parishioner of Annunciation Parish in Gardner and remained actively involved in many organizations throughout her life. She was a longtime member of the Gardner Bridge Club, the American Contract Bridge League, and the Gardner Golden Agers, where she proudly served as Vice President. She also generously volunteered her time for many years at Heywood Hospital and with the Gardner Chapter of AARP. Teri enjoyed an active lifestyle, especially playing golf and traveling. Above all, her greatest joy was her family-she cherished the many memories made together and the laughter they shared over the years. She was also fondly known for enjoying a glass of wine or two at the end of the evening.
Teri is survived by her three daughters, Suzanne Mazur of North Providence, RI, Christine Bielak and her husband Stanley of Westminster, and Rose Marie McKenzie and her husband Kevin of Largo, FL; her stepchildren, Thomas R. Gustafson and his wife Yvette of Gardner, David R. Gustafson and his wife Diane of New Braintree, and Ann Mitus and her husband Paul of Gilbertville; six grandchildren, Jennifer Roach, Matthew Bielak and his wife Lisa, Marc Bielak and his wife Paula, Eric McKenzie and his wife Cari , Brian McKenzie and his wife Autumn, and Heather McKenzie; ten great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, and nephews; and her extended Canu family.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 24 years, Ralph P. Gustafson, who died in 2005; her brothers, Gerard and Joseph Bourque; her sister, Lillian Cormier; a brother-in-law, Joffre Cormier and sister-in-law, Margaret "Peg" Bourque
