Stella V. Kacian

Stella V. (Doucette) Kacian, 93, of Ashburnham, died peacefully, Tuesday, February 25, 2020, in her daughter's residence after a long illness.

Born in Fitchburg on May 16, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Roseanna (Gionet) Doucette. She was a graduate of Gardner High School with the Class of 1944.

She was a parishioner at Annunciation Parish/ Holy Spirit Chapel of Gardner and the former Sacred Heart Church of Gardner, where she taught CCD classes and worked in its office. Stella loved to keep busy. She enjoyed arts and crafts, such as making baskets, refurbishing furniture, tole painting, and interior decorating. Stella helped many with their house decorating while employed at the Country Corner Craft Shop in Gardner. She was a gifted knitter, cross-stitcher, quilter, and clothes maker for her family. She also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and word searches. She was an excellent cook and cherished time spent with her family.

Stella is survived by her sons, Dennis Kacian of Salmon, Idaho, Steven Kacian and his wife Theresa of Gardner, Joseph "Jack" Kacian and his wife Cynthia of Royalston, and David Kacian of Gardner; daughter, Janet Peterson and her husband Arthur of Ashburnham; brother, Chester Kacian of GA; nine grandchildren, Brent Kacian, Christy Gnat, Valerie McCoy, Natalie Kacian, Hannah Kacian, Kourtney Kacian, Shelby Diaek, Meredith Nett and Carlen Goguen; great-grandchildren, Bianca Kacian, Marina Sullivan, Nolan McCoy, Cillian McCoy, Reese Shumsky, and Ryder Diaek; brothers, Albert Doucette of Baldwinville, and Frederick Doucette and his wife Eleanor of Lunenburg; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband of 71-years, Joseph J. Kacian, who died on August 22, 2019, and one sister Martha Auger.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Holy Spirit Chapel, 50 Lovewell Street, Gardner. Family and friends are asked to report directly to the church on the day of the service.  Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.

There are no calling hours.
