Shirley A. (Charest) Henry, 78, of Gardner, died peacefully Monday, February 13, 2017 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home of Gardner, following a brief illness.
Shirley was born in Gardner on March 30, 1938, the daughter of the late Leo F. and Lauretta (Miller) Charest.
A lifelong resident of Gardner, she graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1958.
Shirley was employed in the assembly department of Digital Manufacturing Company of Westminster for 25 years, retiring in 1972. She was previously employed in the housekeeping department of Heywood Hospital of Gardner.
Shirley was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. She was also a member of the Gardner Golden Agers.
Shirley enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, traveling and going out with friends. She was a huge baseball fan, and her favorite television shows were 'Wheel of Fortune' and 'Jeopardy'. Shirley loved spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Arthur R. Henry, who died March 22, 2001.
Shirley leaves three brothers, George Charest of Gardner, Roger Charest and his wife Evelyn of Gardner, and Edward Charest of Gardner; two sisters, Annette Bourgeois and her husband Robert of Gardner and Georgette Case and her husband Raymond of Gardner; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Norman Charest, who died at the age of 7; infant sister, Lorraine Charest, and sister, Claire Beauregard.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 18th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 1:00 p.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery of Gardner at a later date.
A calling hour will be held Saturday, February 18th from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
