Roland Joseph Woods Jr., 68, of Gardner, died Friday, March 27, 2020, in his residence.
Born in Winchendon on January 2, 1952, he was the son of the late Roland Joseph Woods Sr. and Marion (Plouffe) Woods. He graduated from Murdock High School with the Class of 1970. Roland was a United States Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran serving from 1972 to 1976, where he received the National Service Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal before being honorably discharged. Roland was a house manager employed by the Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center of Gardner for several years. He previously worked as an auto mechanic.
He was a true outdoorsman. He loved to go hunting, fishing, kayaking, and camping. He was a gifted photographer and enjoyed taking pictures of wildlife. He liked animals, especially cats and dogs. The time Roland cherished the most though was spent with this family.
Roland is survived by his wife Cheryl D. (Taylor) Woods; two brothers Francis Woods and his wife Brenda of Rindge, NH, Henry J. Woods and his wife Mary Ann of Rindge, NH; three sisters, Elizabeth Charlonne of Rindge, NH, Janet Woods of Sturbridge, MA, and Nellie Whitmore and her husband William of Templeton; his step-mother Vera Whitmore of Gardner; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by three sisters, Bridget and Pauline Woods, and Lillian Dennis.
Funeral Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
