Rita L. (Bibeau) Normandin-Frenette, 81, of Gardner, died peacefully Thursday, November 2, 2017 in The Highlands of Fitchburg, following a long illness.
Rita was born in Gardner on October 25, 1936, the daughter of the late Donat and Florence (Perreault) Bibeau.
She received her G.E.D. from Fitchburg High School in 1965, and received her Medical Assisting Certificate from Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School of Fitchburg in 1978.
Rita was a Medical Assistant employed by Burbank Hospital of Fitchburg for 4 years, retiring in 1989. She was previously employed by New England Curtain of Fitchburg as a stitcher.
Rita was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner.
She enjoyed cooking, traveling, playing cribbage and going to Foxwoods. She also enjoyed watching old movies and old television series; especially M*A*S*H*. Rita was a guest member of the Acadien Social Club of Gardner.
Rita was predeceased by her first husband of 37 years, Leon A. Normandin who died May 2, 1994; and by her daughter, Susan Smith of Fitchburg.
She leaves her husband of 16 years, Julien J. Frenette of Gardner; one son, Michael A. Normandin and his wife Diane of Fitchburg; three daughters, Deborrah A. Normandin of Fitchburg, Mary Jane Grivakis and her husband John of Florida and Nancy Henderson of Fitchburg; one son-in-law, David Smith of Fitchburg; one step-son, Robert Frenette of Gardner; two step-daughters, Sylvia Nowlan of Gardner and Janice Miller and her husband Michael of Gardner; one brother, Paul Bibeau and his wife Lillian of Illinois; nine grandchildren, Andrew, Jeremy and Samantha Normandin, Maria Babcock, Thomas and Nicole Grivakis, Anthony, Angela and Alexandria Altieri; three great-grandchildren, William, Reid and Kelly; four step-grandchildren, Gerald "Timmy" and Kevin Nowlan, Kristin and Thomas Miller; three step-great-grandchildren, Allyson, Thomas and Lyra "Little Page"; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 10th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be Friday, November 10th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
