Richard A. Friberg, 70, of Gardner, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Heywood Hospital.
Richard was born in Worcester on October 30, 1954, the son of the late Viljo and Evangeline (Leger) Friberg. A proud graduate of Gardner High School, Class of 1972, he went on to dedicate more than thirty years to a career in maintenance at Mount Wachusett Community College before retiring.
Richard was an avid movie enthusiast and a devoted fan of both the Red Sox and the Patriots. He enjoyed playing video and computer games and was especially known for his deep love of animals, particularly dogs and cats, many of whom he cared for throughout his life. Richard also found great joy in supporting various charities and treasured the artwork and thank-you cards he received from those he helped. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family.
Richard is survived by a sister; Joann Gibson of Shelby, North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Linda Friberg of West Boylston; two nephews, Miles Gibson- and his wife Andrea of Shelby, NC, Wayne J. Friberg and his wife Allie of Princeton; and several cousins.
In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother, Wayne J. Friberg, who passed away in February of 2025.
Calling Hours will be held Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Funeral Services will follow from the funeral home with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA.
Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Notre Dame Road, Gardner, MA, 01440.
