Ranjan Banerjee, 82, of Templeton, MA, died peacefully Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at his home after a long illness, surrounded by his family.
Born in Lalmonirhat, India, on June 20, 1941, he was the youngest son of the late Upendra Nath and Bimala (Chatterjee) Banerjee. He attended school and college in Kolkata, India, and later got his Chartered Accountant’s Degree. Ranjan was employed by American Express as International Tax Manager in New York City for many years prior to his retirement.
Ranjan enjoyed reading, playing games, and was an avid tennis player. He loved to travel visiting many places throughout the world including Spain, Portugal, Egypt, and Russia. He especially loved traveling by train. Ranjan found his greatest joy when he was around his family and friends, who will remember him for his fun-loving personality.
Ranjan is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nandita (Chatterjee) Banerjee of Templeton; a daughter, Trina Abrahamse, a son-in-law, Benjamin Abrahamse; a grandson, Aakash Abrahamse; a brother, Gautam Banerjee and his wife Jayasri of Kolkata, India; a sister, Bela Chakraborty of New Delhi, India; a sister-in-law, Bulbul Banerjee of Kolkata, India; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Rabindra Nath Banerjee and Basudeb Banerjee; and a sister, Lena Mukherjee.
Funeral Services will be private, presided by Reverend Timothy E. Crellin, and held at the convenience of the family.
