Obituary

Randall "Randy" Hamel, 70, of Phillipston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Athol Memorial Hospital after a period of declining health.

Born in Gardner on May 25, 1955, he was the son of the late Henry and Priscilla (Plouffe) Hamel. Randy spent many years as a self-employed window, door, and painting specialist, taking pride in the craftsmanship of his work. Before that, he devoted 25 years as a dairy farmer at the Fernald School, where his steady hands and strong work ethic were well known.

Randy was an avid outdoorsman who found his greatest peace in the woods and on the water, always in search of the next big prize. He cherished time spent in his garage with friends, sharing stories, laughter, and companionship. Known for his generous spirit, he was always quick to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Above all, Randy's greatest joy was his family, and he treasured every moment spent together.

Randy is survived by his two daughters, Leah Cesaire and her husband, Evans, of Gardner, and Stacy McLaughlin and her husband, Kyle, of Woburn; his beloved granddaughter, Elena Cesaire; and two step-grandchildren, Evans Jr. and Samara Cesaire; his brothers Phillip Hamel and his wife, Mary Beth, of Arizona; Steven Hamel of Westminster; and Andrew Hamel and his wife, Christine, of Gardner; his sisters Rebecca Shell of Leominster and Amy Ishol and her husband, Jean, of Nevada; his aunts and uncles, Arthur Plouffe and his wife, Leona, of Gardner, and Hermine Eaton of Templeton; his former spouses, Janice Hamel and Mailis Javenpaa; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Henry Jr. and Michael Hamel, and two sisters, Eloise Brouillet and Paula Gingras.
