Michael W. Lore

Michael W. Lore, 98, of Gardner, died peacefully Wednesday, August 11, 2021, in Alliance Health in Baldwinville, after an illness.

Born in Gardner on January 25, 1923, he was the son of the late Carlo and Lucy (Vinzi) Lore. Mike was a United States Navy World War II Veteran serving from 1941 to 1947 on USS Arkansas, USS Hamul, USS Monitor, and USS Broome. During his time in the service, he received the American Defense Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with Three Bronze Stars, and the Philippine Liberation Medal with Two Stars, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with a Star. Mike was a Carpenter employed by J.N. Melanson Co. for 40-years until his retirement in 1987.

Mike was a parishioner of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Gardner. He was also a member of the Ovila Case VFW Post 905 of Gardner and was the co-founder of the Jackson Eagles Club. Mike enjoyed fishing especially fly fishing, hunting, and all sports. He loved eating out and was a regular of the former Suzette’s Breakfast and Lunch in Gardner.

Mike is survived by a special nephew, Mark Lore and his wife Renee of Gardner; many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his three brothers, Phillip, Anthony, and Martin Lore; and seven sisters, Mary Oliva, Louise Gallant, Angelina Belanger, Sophie Melanson, Frances Horrigan, Dolores Wetmore, and Lucy Amadon.

Graveside Services with Full Military Honors will be held Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA.

Calling Hours will be held Tuesday, August 24, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA.
