Rest easy Uncle Smokey, I will always remember our trips to Florida, you driving the stick shift and you not letting Dawn and I change the TV when you were watching Hogan's Heroes. aMay you find peace and love in God's kingdom. I know you will watch over us all. Much love and I will meet you in heaven.

Uncle Mel's beloved cat pork chop would want me to post his undying love and heartbreak over uncle Mel's passing seeing as uncle Mel and pork chop loved each other more than anyone outside of gardner could ever know. Oh and in gardner everyone called Mel uncle Mel. Mel would be heart broken if knew that pork chop wasn't listed in the obituary.....so I've taken the liberty of making sure pork chop was included.

Mel was my everything, he took care of me when I was sick, he held me when I felt scared and whenever I've needed a shoulder to cry on I could always count on him. I spent ten years of my life loving him as a member of my own family, the fact that he wasn't my blood never once mattered to either one of us. I was by his side the day the doctor walked into his hospital room to tell him about his cancer and my boyfriend Rob and I made sure he had everything he needed as well as anything he wanted. Everyone knew him as uncle Mel but truthfully uncle Mel was like a combination of friend uncle and father to me and my life will never again be the same without him here to make me smile. Having him in my life honestly made me a better person than I ever thought that I could be. I'd give anything in the world to have him back. Rest In peace uncle Mel....until we meet again, don't forget to save me a seat. I love you uncle Mel.....always and forever yours. Julie
