Melissa A. (Alderman) Paulhus, 55, of Barre, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 8, 2026, in UMass Memorial Medical Center-University Campus, Worcester, following an illness.

Born in Joplin, Missouri, on July 21, 1970, she was the daughter of Stephen Alderman and Sheila A. Grant. Melissa received her Associate Degree in Human Services from Mount Wachusett Community College and went on to dedicate many years to Open Sky Community Services, where she worked as a counselor and home aide. Her work reflected her compassionate nature and her genuine desire to help others.

Melissa enjoyed crocheting and lovingly created many handmade gifts for family and friends over the years. She had a natural kindness about her and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Above all else, Melissa's greatest joy was her family, and she cherished the memories and time they shared together.

In addition to her parents, Melissa is survived by her two children, Jay Paulhus of Gardner and Brittany Alderman of Missouri; her siblings, Yvonne, Lucinda, and Stormy; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In keeping with Melissa's wishes, there will be no services.
