Mary Lasky

Mary (Salvador) Lasky, 94, of Gardner, died peacefully Thursday, January 14, 2021, in Gardner Rehabilitation and Center, Gardner, after an illness.

Born in Oswego, NY, on April 18, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John and Agnes (Netters) Salvador. She graduated from Oswego High School with the Class of 1943. In her early career, she worked in Washington, D.C. in the Department of the Navy, and later was a supervisor at the Former Simplex Time Recorder. Mary was a payroll clerk employed by S. Bent Company of Gardner for 21 years until her retirement in 1990.

Mary was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish/ Holy Spirit Chapel of Gardner. She was a member of the Craft Group of Westminster, the Gardner Chapter of AARP, and the Chair City Walkers. Mary was known for her quilting and loved and cherished making handmade quilts and hand-crafted items for family and friends. She enjoyed watching her Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. Mary enjoyed travelling and had the opportunity to travel the country and world, her favorite visits being Ireland, Greece, and Italy. She enjoyed being active and was known by many for her spitfire and positive attitude on life. But the time that Mary loved and truly cherished the most was spent with her family and friends, with whom she left a great impact.

Mary is survived by her son, David M. Lasky and his wife, Pamela of Hartland, VT; her daughter, Donna Daunais of Rutland; her three cherished grandchildren, Chase, Shaylin, and Brynn Daunais, all of Rutland; two sisters, Catherine Boni of Oswego, NY and Ann Makin of Oswego, NY; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Joseph F. Lasky, who died in 1981; and two brothers, John, and Joseph Salvador.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, especially Brian McNamara, for their compassionate and loving attention and care.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Holy Spirit Chapel, 50 Lovewell Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA.

Cousins Donna and David and family, I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your Mom, Aunt Mary. Though we didn't see much of each other through the years, my Mom always kept us updated on the great things that she was doing. She was a wonderful lady and will be missed greatly. May she rest in peace.

I met Mary when she hired me to help her with her home. Every other week, I would look forward to spending time with Mary. As I cleaned she shared stories about her sisters, her travel, here son and daughter and her grandchildren! Her love shone brightly in her eyes. Her passion for staying fit and quilting kept her fire burning and even after I moved to Rhode Island, I continued to keep in touch with her and would visit for a cup of tea when I could! I respectfully referred to her as one of my "feisty ladies" and enjoyed her endless spirit, her feistiness, and her stories of family and travel. I feel blessed to have had Mary in my life and she will be sorely missed. My thoughts go out to her family.

David and Donna,
I'm so sorry to hear of Aunt Mary's passing. She was such a wonderful woman. I wanted you to have the picture I uploaded. Catie and I surprised her after attending a concert the night before. She insisted that we stay for lunch and made us the best grilled cheese sandwiches. I'm so thankful that we did that because that is such a cherished memory.

You're in my thoughts.
Love,
Joanne
