Mary Shirley (Carrier) Acerbi, 87, of Gardner, died peacefully Monday, August 21, 2023, in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, after an illness with her family by her side.

Born in Leominster on June 29, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Louise (Begin) Carrier. She graduated from Leominster High School with the Class of 1954. Shirley was the Owner and Operator of Kids Closet for many years before her retirement in 1993. She was previously employed as an Office Administrator by Gary Chemicals, Monson Chemical, Basque Plastics, and HS Gravuer Printing Company.

Shirley was a parishioner of St. Cecilia’s Church of Leominster. Shirley was an avid golfer whose life truly revolved around the sport—golf would come before major holidays. She was a member of the Westminster Country Club for many years. In her younger years, she was an avid swimmer and speed skater. Although golf was an essential aspect of her life, her family came first, treasuring the special times together.

Shirley is survived by her two sons, Robert Erdmann and his wife Tammy of Gardner and Scott Erdmann of Frisco, TX; two daughters, Pamela Hutchinson and her husband Paul of Leominster and Heidi Hensley and her significant other John of Clearwater, FL; six grandchildren, Robert Erdmann Jr. and his wife Kasandra, Bradford Erdmann and his wife Renee, Rhye Hutchinson and her significant other Connor Kelly, Shea Hutchinson and her husband Frankie Bangrazi, Michael Hutchinson and his significant other Sydnee Midura and Scott Erdmann and his wife Jenna; six great-grandchildren, Cahill, Ellery, Otto, Mason, Ava, and Gianna; two sisters, Joan and Gloria; and three brothers, John, Raymond, and Roger; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Mario Acerbi, who died in 2006; a great-grandchild, Dos Erdmann; two sisters, Joan and Gloria; and three brothers, John, Roger and Raymond.

In accordance with the family's wishes, there will be no services at this time.
