Marilyn G. Dapkevich

Marilyn G. (Caldwell) Dapkevich, 89, of Gardner, died peacefully Sunday, September 15, 2019 in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Gardner.

            Marilyn was born in Greenfield, Mass. on June 26, 1930, the daughter of the late Edgar and Irene (Brunnell) Caldwell.  She grew up in Greenfield and Athol, Mass. and attended Stoneleigh Burnham School in Greenfield and graduated from Athol High School with the Class of 1949. She was a nurses aide at the Institute of Living in Hartford, Connecticut.  She also taught dancing and appeared on stage and radio and modeled for several stores including G. Fox Co. in Connecticut.  She was a member of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Gardner, the Lithuanian Club, The West End Beagle Club, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Women’s Auxiliary. Marilyn was an avid bowler who bowled on Gardner Leagues for many years. She loved spending time with her family.

            She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Dapkevich, Sr.

            Marilyn leaves her daughter, Donna A. Dapkevich of Gardner; her son, John J. Dapkevich, Jr. of Gardner; her niece, Debra Caldwell of Greenfield; her nephew, Charles (Chuck) Caldwell of Texas, and her beloved cats Pumpkin and Rambo. She was predeceased by her brother, Edgar (Gar) Caldwell of Florida.

            According to her wishes, her body has been donated to University of Massachusetts Medical School of Science.

            A Mass of Intention will be held Sunday, October 27th at 7:30 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be held at a later date in St. John’s Cemetery, Gardner.

            There are no calling hours.

            In lieu of memorial contributions, please consider having a Mass said in Marilyn’s memory.
