Gardner

M. Clara Allain, 86, of Gardner, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 23, 2023 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.

Born in Gardner on February 17, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Maryann (LeBlanc) Bernard. Clara was a sales clerk employed by Almy’s, and co-owned Cote’s Market in Otter River alongside her late husband John for several years before her retirement.

Clara was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner, practicing at its Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. She loved playing cards, traveling, and camping. Clara was a homemaker whose greatest enjoyment was watching her grandchildren and spending time with her family; she held all those memories close to her heart. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Clara is survived by two sons, Michael J. Allain of Winchendon, and Richard S. Allain and his wife Jenny of Baldwinville; three daughters, Linda M. Martel of Lunenburg, Katherine T. Dupuis of Gardner, and Donna J. Adams and her husband Jack of Orange; eight grandchildren, Angela, Heather, Samantha, Sarah, Jennifer, Stephanie, Ashlynn, and Alec; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, John A. “Grumpy” Allain, who died in 2010; a brother, Donald Bernard; a sister, Doris Streeter; and a grandson, Jason Allain.
