Lois J Gilbert

Lois J. Gilbert, 68, of Gardner, formerly of Ashburnham, died peacefully Wednesday, May 8, 2019 in The Highlands of Fitchburg, surrounded by her family, following a long illness.

            Lois was born in Winchendon on August 23, 1950, the daughter of the late Russell and Eleanor (Monette) Nadeau.

            She graduated from Murdock High School of Winchendon with the Class of 1968. Lois received her Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Mount Wachusett Community College in 1993; and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from Cambridge College in 1995. Lois was a Court Advocates Supervisor for Battered Women’s Resources, Inc. for several years, retiring in 2012.

            She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Gardner.

            Lois enjoyed traveling, gardening, listening to music, and dancing. She loved her family, especially her grandson Parker who was the light of her life.

            Lois leaves her husband of 34 years, Roy O. Gilbert of Gardner; son, Kyle Helie and his wife Andrea of Leominster; stepson, Kevin Gilbert and his wife Jamie of Seattle; stepdaughters, Tammy Mugel and her husband Richard of Buffalo, NY, and Megan Piccus and her husband Andrew of Longmeadow; sister, Barbara LaFrennie and her husband Joseph of Winchendon; grandson, Parker Helie; eleven step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

            Funeral Services and burial will be held Tuesday, May 21st at 2:00 p.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.

            There are no calling hours.
