Linda Kuropatkin

Linda Kuropatkin, 72, of Gardner, died peacefully, Monday, January 13, 2020, in her residence after a long struggle with dementia.

Born in Gardner on June 6, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Helen (Secovich) Kuropatkin. She was a graduate of Gardner High School with the Class of 1965, and Franklin Pierce College with a Bachelor of Arts in 1971.Linda worked as Children’s Librarian at Levi Heywood Memorial Library of Gardner for several years.

Linda loved animals and was a firm believer in animal rights. For 35-years Linda was active in both animal rights groups and in the adopting and placing of cats into new homes. She was compassionately known as the “Cat Lady” by many of her friends. She was an active volunteer at the Pat Brody Shelter in Lunenburg and was an active member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). 

She is survived by her husband of 39-years Donald LaPrise of Gardner; one daughter and the “light of her life” Alyx LaPrise and her fiancé Kim of Athol; one sister Donna Crociata and her husband Joe of New Jersey; two nieces Lynn Hager and Lori O’Rourke; one nephew Randall Bouchard; three grandnephews and two caring friends Doreen and Jen Hodgkins.

Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

There are no calling hours.
