Leo P. Provencher Jr., 91, of Templeton, died peacefully Thursday, August 22, 2024, in Quabbin Valley Healthcare, Athol, after a period of declining health. 

Born in Gardner on March 19, 1933, he was the son of the late Leo P. Provencher Sr. and Gertrude Alice (Gallant) Provencher-Noel. He graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1951. After graduation, Leo enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve, being activated from 1952 to 1954 to serve during the Korean War, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal. Leo was a logistics specialist employed by Digital Equipment Corporation of Westminster for many years until his retirement. 

Leo was a member of the Gardner Hope Masonic Lodge, where he served as grand master, a member of the Shriners, a member of the Scottish Rite, and a member of the American Legion Post 129 of Gardner, where he proudly served on its honor guard weekly at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon. Leo loved to be out on the golf course playing a round, working outside, and deep-sea fishing. He enjoyed bantering with his friends. Most importantly, Leo loved time spent with his family, especially his cat Millie. 

Leo is survived by his two daughters, Beth Arsenault and her husband Gus of Templeton and Sarah Clavir and her husband Michael of Athol; a son, J. Allan Provencher and his wife Lisa of Templeton and a daughter-in-law Maria Provencher of Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Edward and Tomas Provencher, Renay, David, and Lauren Arsenault, Adam Korandanis, Jaryd Gallant, Rachael Deschenes, Rebekah Provencher, and Ian and Emma Clavir; four sisters-in-law, Judy Columbus of Leominster and Diane LeBlanc and her husband Philip of Baldwinville, Janet Pervier of E. Templeton and Irene Pervier of Baldwinville; a brother-in-law, Charles Pervier and his wife Mary of Maine; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 68 years, Joyce A. (Pervier) Provencher, who died on May 13, 2024; a son, Paul Provencher; a sister-in-law, Susan Faulkner; and two brothers-in-law, Rodney, and Jon Paul Pervier.

Graveside Services with Military Honors will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA.
