Leo Richard Keon, passed away at home on Thursday, September 10, 2026 following a brief illness. 
Richard is survived by his two children from his first marriage, daughter Lisa and her husband Michael and their children, Alyssa and her husband Scott, Andrew and his wife Cheryl and Justin and his wife Jamie. He is also survived by his son Richard and his husband Brent. 

Richard is survived by his wife, Elizabeth whom he married on April 14, 1984. He embraced and was warmly embraced, by his new second family Donna, her husband Michael, their daughter Kiley and her husband Brian, Sandra and her husband Ron, and Carolyn and her husband Steven and their children Scott, his wife Shannon and their daughter Ayla, Crissie, her husband Patrick and their son Arun, and Keri and her partner Shawn and his children Anthony and Sophia. Richard is also survived by many nieces and nephews around the country and in Ireland. He is also survived by his beloved grand-kitty "Max-the-cat."

He is predeceased by his three brothers and their wives, Gerry and Gina, Phil and his surviving wife Nancy, Harry and Mary and sister Patricia and Bill along with his half-brother Dan and his surviving wife Linda.

Born on December 17, 1934, he was raised primarily by his single mother Mabel Keon. As Richard would say, true to his Irish roots he specialized in the art of conversation (aka having the gift of gab). He was raised in a cold water flat in the Acre section of Lowell. He loved to tell stories of growing up in the Acre and of moving to public housing with running hot water as a result of President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal programs. He was, until the day he died, a proud Roosevelt Democrat who was not shy about expressing his political opinions. Richard was proudly Irish and loved visiting Ireland with Elizabeth where they were warmly welcomed by his extended Irish family.

When Richard met Elizabeth he met the love of his life. He loved to tell how the first time he ever saw Elizabeth he knew then and there he was going to marry her. They had their best second life together. They were each other's best friend and soul-mate. They enjoyed traveling, going to Hawaii, the West Coast and Ireland. They divided their time between Maine and Florida. In Maine they loved walking on the beach, going to the Ogunquit Playhouse, and simply spending time together. In Florida they were active in the community, playing Bocce, going to dances and doing lots of socializing. Richard and Elizabeth loved horse racing, going to the track and finally making it to the Kentucky Derby. They loved all things football, especially the New England Patriots. Richard also enjoyed playing poker and one of his favorite memories was teaching his young granddaughter Kiley how to play poker (with parental participation) using Bulls Eye candies as chips. 

Burial will be private and held at the convience of the family.
