Leah M. Chartier

Leah M. (Roy) Chartier, 97, of Templeton, died peacefully Saturday, April 10, 2021, in Alliance Health at Baldwinville, Baldwinville, surrounded by her family.

Born in Gardner on May 14, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Edgar G. and Alfreda (Dubuis) Roy. She graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1941.

Leah was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church of Templeton. She a former drum majorette for the Eagles Drum and Bugle Corps. Leah was active in missionary work and made several mission trips to Haiti with her husband Deacon Arthur J. Chartier. She enjoyed gardening, swimming, listening to Big Band music, and dancing, especially the jitterbug and the Polka. Leah was a homemaker who loved and cherished family activities and time with her family.

Leah is survived by her four sons, David A. Chartier and Linda of Alaska, Stephen E. Chartier and his wife Michelle of Templeton, Martin J. Chartier and Janet of Templeton, and Glenn P. Chartier and his wife Jean-Marie of Gloucester; three daughters, Linda A. Clemens and her husband Robert of Montana, Linde M. Wilkinson and her husband Edwin of St. Francis, ME, and Karen L. Sawicki and her husband Keith of Sebastian, FL; a brother, Edward Roy and his wife Patricia of Phillipston, a sister, Annette Grenier of Phillipston; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 50-years, Deacon Arthur J. Chartier, who died December 31, 1996; and four brothers, Ralph, Ronald, Robert Roy, and Donald Duval.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2021, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA 01440. Burial at Lower Cemetery, Athol Road, Phillipston, MA, will be private.

Calling Hours will be private.

Masks and social distancing will be required.
