Laurel Ann Kowalczyk, 66, of Gardner, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 8, 2025, in her home.
Born in Massachusetts on March 1, 1959, she was the beloved daughter of the late Barbara Johnson and Frank Kowalczyk. She was a proud graduate of Nashoba Regional High School in Bolton, Class of 1977, and later furthered her education at Atlantic Union College, where she earned her bachelor's degree.
Among her many cherished interests, Laurel found great joy in sewing and lovingly creating clothing, as well as spending quiet, peaceful hours working on needlepoint. Christmas was truly her season of magic, wonder, and heartfelt celebration. She poured her love into every batch of Christmas cookies she baked, sharing warmth and sweetness with family and friends alike. Her legacy shines brightest in the traditions she created and the love she leaves behind. A true animal lover at heart, Laurel treasured every moment shared with her friends and family and held an especially special bond with her beloved feline companion, Button.
Laurel is survived by a son, Daryl Blaney and his wife, Maria Gargano of Framingham; a daughter, Brittany Blaney-Anderson and her husband Matthew of Lancaster; a granddaughter, Layla Blaney; two brothers, Frank "Butch" Kowalczyk III, and Scott Maclean; two sisters, Holly Kowalczyk, and Bonnie Mahoney Hache. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will be held Monday, December 15, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Funeral services will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
