Kenneth A. Hanks

Kenneth A. “Ken” Hanks, 82, of Gardner, died peacefully, Monday, March 2, 2020, in Heywood Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Winchendon on August 8, 1937, he was the son of the late Leon and Doris (Boisse) Hanks. Ken was a United States Air Force Veteran serving from 1955 to 1956. He was employed as a sprayer and foreman at Temple Stuarts Furniture Company of Templeton for 33-years until his retirement. He was previously employed by Nichols & Stone Company for 18-years.

He was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish/ Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. Ken loved to do yard work and go for walks around the neighborhood. But the time he loved and cherished the most was spent with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ken is survived by his wife of 60-years Anita T. (Beauregard) Hanks of Gardner; one son David Hanks and his significant other Mandy Germaine of Gardner; one daughter, Therese “Terri” Springer and her husband Rob Springer of Templeton; five grandchildren Jeff Springer and his wife Toni, Devin, and Leeha Hanks, Jessica Springer and her fiancé Matt Page, and Shauna Springer and her fiancé Todd Chrusciel; five great-grandchildren, Bruce and Belle Springer, Warren and Ada Page, and Carter Chrusciel; one sister-in-law Rosie Hanks; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Richard, Francis, Edward and Wayne Hanks; two sisters Nancy Clavette and Janice Farnsworth; two nephews Gary Hanks, and Kerry Hanks.

A Graveside Service with military honors will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.

There are no calling hours.
