Gardner

Joseph Gerard “Jerry” Goguen, 92, of Gardner, formerly of Templeton, died peacefully Wednesday, May 3, 2023, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, after an illness.

Born in Minto, New Brunswick, Canada, on March 11, 1931, he was the son of the late Jean-Baptiste and Edna (Arsenault) Goguen. He graduated from University of Saint Joseph’s College in Memramcook, New Brunswick.  Jerry was the Owner and Operator, along with his late wife, Susan, of Gardner Office Supply in Gardner for 44 years until his retirement. Prior to owning his own business, he was employed by Lemay Office Supply of Fitchburg.

Jerry was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church in East Templeton and more recently practicing at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Gardner.  He loved to be active within his community and was a member of the Templeton Senior Center, Rotary International, Exchange Club, and 10/30 Club. Jerry enjoyed playing cribbage, listening to music, taking trips to Foxwoods, and RVing—always enjoying a good vacation. He loved to be outdoors fishing and going to his camp in Woodstock, New Brunswick, with his late friend Duffy, brothers, and family. He was an avid fan of his Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins, never missing a game. Family time was essential in his life. He treasured all the time they had together throughout the years.

Jerry is survived by his three daughters, Lisa Hamel of Gardner, Sandy Brackett and her husband Andy of Landaff, NH, and Gail Bulman and her husband Peter of Syracuse, NY; three grandchildren, Gerard Joseph Bulman and his wife Laura, Michael Francis Bulman and Laura Arlene Cope and her husband Nate; two great-grandchildren, Avery and Noelle. He was also very close to his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Arlene (Sharp) Goguen, who died in 1972; his second wife, Susan (King) Goguen, who died in 2014; and his five siblings, Leo, Fred, Willie, and Al Goguen, and Marie Dorca Taylor.
