John “Jack” C. Schofield, 80, of Ventnor City, NJ, died peacefully Friday, December 16, 2022, in his daughter’s residence, surrounded by his family.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on October 28, 1942, he was the son of the late John G. and Rita (Gerth) Schofield. He graduated from Rancocas Valley High in Mount Holly, NJ, and La Salle University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics. Jack was in the Aircraft Fastener Industry for 40-years prior to his retirement and a Patrolman in Audubon Park, NJ.
Jack was a parishioner of St. James Parish in Ventnor City, NJ, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He enjoyed boating and cars—especially his convertible Chevrolet Corvette. Jack loved to travel and enjoyed going on cruises and visiting many places throughout the years. He loved to sit on his deck—watching the sunset and treasured this time spent with his family.
Jack is survived by his son, John “Jack” G. Schofield of Ventnor City, NJ; a daughter Dr. Kristin N. Schofield and her husband, Dr. Francis Sweeney of Gardner, MA; five grandchildren, Nicholas and Spencer Sweeney, Genevieve, Sean, and John “Jack” C. Schofield; two sisters, Rita Stevenson of Custer, Washington, and Tina Camuso of Norristown, PA; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara A. (Cavanaugh) Schofield, who died in 2008.
Funeral Services are being held through the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, 7300 Ventnor Avenue, Ventnor City, NJ. Burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, 5061 Harding Highway, Mays Landing, NJ. For more information about service details, please visit (www.ghwimberg.com).
