Obituary

Joan A. (Poirier) LeBlanc, 91, of Gardner, Massachusetts passed away at home on Thursday, July 30, 2026, with family by her side.

Joan was born in Gardner on March 18, 1935, the daughter of Clarence and Irene (Asselin) Poirier. She was a career employee of the telephone company, beginning as a switchboard operator for New England Telephone, followed by supervisory and management positions with NYNEX and AT&T, before retiring from Verizon.

She enjoyed traveling with friends and family, adventuring around the world. Joan also enjoyed trips closer to home, testing her luck at the casinos. Lots of fun, not so much luck. Joan was a big fan of Boston sports and musicals. All the grandchildren are well versed on show tunes, especially songs featuring Frank Sinatra. As Frank would say, "She did it her way."

Joan's greatest joy was spending time with her growing family. She is survived by her two daughters, Lynn LeBlanc-Marrone and her husband Michael of Cedarburg, WI, and Karen LeBlanc of Gardner; two grandchildren, Nathan Marrone and his wife Vanessa Johnson of Chicago, IL and Dana Stuefen and her husband Andrew of Wauwatosa, WI; five great-grandchildren, Eliana Stuefen, Ava Stuefen, Brendan Stuefen, Delilah Joan Marrone and Margot Marrone.

She is predeceased by her husband, Edward A. LeBlanc and brother, Roland Poirier.

Joan's family wishes to extend thanks to beloved neighbors and friends, Visiting Angels and Care Central VNA & Hospice for kindness offered during her final years of life.

Calling Hours will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA.
