Jeanne M. Bubnel

Jeanne M. (Hamel) Bubnel, 82, of Gardner, died peacefully, Tuesday, July 16, 2024, surrounded by her family after an illness.

Born in Gardner on December 12, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Lucien and Loretta (Robichaud) Hamel. She graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1958. Jeanne was a beautician and the sole proprietor of Jeanne’s Hair Fashions for more than 20 years until her retirement. As was typical of her firecracker personality, her slogan for her Salon was “I am a beautician and not a magician”!

Jeanne was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner practicing at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. She was a member of the West End Beagle Club, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 747, Deep Sea Club, and the Lithuanian Club all of Gardner. Jeanne loved to polka dance with her late husband Dick, going to the ocean, and reading. She enjoyed travelling to Florida and visiting Marco Island. Her summers were filled with joy and friendships at Indian Ranch in Webster, MA. But the time that Jeanne treasured the most was spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jeanne is survived by her two daughters, Vickie J. Thebeau and her husband Bob of Marco Island, FL and Christie A. Grant and her husband Robert of Clinton; four grandchildren, Andrew, Lauren, Zachary and Shannon; and six great-grandchildren, Lyanna, Sophie, Emma, Lucas, Jordan, and Mateo-Amare; a sister, Pauline Lepkowski and her husband David, of Gardner; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Richard “Dick” Bubnel, who died on October 20, 2020; and her brother, John A.L. Hamel.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA.

A Calling Hour will be held Friday, July 19, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
