James R. Piascik, 76, of Gardner, died peacefully Saturday, September 26, 2026, in Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, after a short illness.

Born in Winchendon on January 15, 1950, he was the son of the late Ramon and Frances V. (Reynolds) Piascik. He graduated from Murdock High School with the Class of 1968. James worked as a manufacturing supervisor for many years, having been employed by Digital Equipment Corporation of Westminster, Skyworks Solutions, Inc. of Woburn, and Karl Storz Endovision, Inc. of Charlton until his retirement. He was also employed by Timpany Liquors for several years.

James was an avid sports fan who faithfully followed the Detroit Lions, New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, and Boston Celtics. He was actively involved in his children's sports when they were young, coaching their Little League softball and baseball teams and always taking pride in cheering them on. He also supported his grandchildren in all of their activities, attending sporting events, dance recitals, and theatre performances.

Music was also an important part of James' life. He loved listening to oldies on his record collection and, over the years, shared that love of music as both a singer in a band and a disc jockey. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of reading the newspaper and playing scratch tickets, as well as trips to the casino. James also had a love for nature and enjoyed birdwatching and looking for moose. Above all, his greatest love was his family, and he treasured the countless memories, laughs, and love they shared throughout the years.

James is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Cynthia A. (Laperriere) Piascik of Gardner; a son, Tyler Piascik of Gardner; two daughters, Tara Cormier and her husband, Craig, of Gardner, and Tiffany Piascik and her wife, Samantha, and Samantha's brother, Dylan Luera, of Brookline, NH; six grandchildren and one on the way, Domenic Masingo, Xavier, Amelia, and Oliver Cormier, and Ari and Silas Piascik; two sisters, Virginia Moreau and her husband, Mark, of Fitchburg, and Debra Neshe and her husband, James, of Stafford Springs, CT, his brothers-in-law Ronald Laperriere of Millville, NJ, and Ricky Laperriere and his wife, Tina, of Winchendon; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling Hours will be held Friday, October 2, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA.

A Calling Hour will be held Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m.
