James A. Bennett, 66, of West Townsend, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the Rose Monahan Hospice House in Worcester, following a brave fight against cancer, with his family by his side.
Born in Fitchburg on October 19, 1959, he was the son of the late William and Leona (Montville) Bennett. He was a graduate of North Middlesex High School, Class of 1977, and went on to dedicate 48 years of his career as a service technician with Ford Motor Company until he fell ill.
James had a lifelong passion for cars and engines. Outside of his work, he found quiet comfort exploring the outdoors, being by the water, fishing, camping and bird watching. Above all else, James cherished his family, treasuring the many memories and moments they shared together.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary A. (Racine) Bennett of West Townsend; his daughter, Rebecca Marois and her husband, James, of Gardner; his two grandsons, James and Jonathan Marois; his brothers, Chester Bennett and his wife, Shirley, of Kentucky, and William Bennett and his wife, Shirley, of Fitchburg; as well as his nieces and nephews Chester Bennett, Jr., Sue Bennett, William Bennett and Angie Bennett.
A private family service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, friends and family are invited to donate to the America Cancer Society, Attn: Relay for Life of Greater Gardner- 6AYVG9, PO Box 5003, Hagerstown, MD 21741, or on their website at (American Cancer Society). or a charity of their choice in James' name.
