James E. Alie, 66, of Gardner, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at UMass Memorial HealthAlliance Clinton Hospital in Leominster, following a brief illness, with his family by his side.
Born in Gardner on November 20, 1959, he was the son of the late James D. and Ruth M. (Nasiatka) Alie. He was a proud graduate of Narragansett Regional High School in Templeton, Class of 1977. James dedicated over 35 years of his career to ModuForm, Inc. in Fitchburg, where he served as a shop supervisor-a role in which he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
James was a parishioner of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Otter River. He had a true passion for working with his hands and could often be found tinkering around the house or restoring Jeeps, including Willys, CJ, and Cherokee models. He found peace and joy in the outdoors-whether he was fishing, four-wheeling, riding dirt bikes and motorcycles, or heading to the beach for sand duning, he was happiest when he was doing what he loved.
Above all else, James was a deeply devoted family man. He was a loving father, son, brother, grandfather, husband, and uncle whose greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his family. He treasured every moment, every laugh, and every memory made together. He also shared a special and lasting bond with his beloved wife, Debra-best friends and soul mate for 34 years and married for 21-built on love, loyalty, and a lifetime of memories. His presence, love, and unwavering dedication to those he cared about will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Debra G. (Moore) Alie of Gardner; his daughter, Cheyenne Alie and her significant other, Kyle Marshall, of Gardner; his stepdaughters, Jade McKinnon and her husband, Tom, of Bourne, and Olivia Seminoff of Hubbardston; his grandchildren, Jordan, Jaxson, and Julian Barnicle, James ("Buckwheat") and his wife, Rachel, Tommy Piermarini, Lilliana Doyle, and Liam McKinnon; his three great-grandchildren, Aubriella, Adriya, and Isaiah Piermarini; his sisters, Joanne Goguen and her husband, Clayton, of Gardner, and Jackie Johnson of Templeton; his nieces and nephews, Josh and Corey Johnson, Lesley Goguen, and Laura Clarizia; as well as several cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Joyce Hanks.
Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Boucher Funeral Home, 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. A funeral service will follow from the funeral home, with a Mass at 12:00 p.m. in St. Martin's Catholic Church, 248 State Road, Otter River.
