Irene “Honey” G. (Gemborys) Stacy, 91, of Templeton, died peacefully Monday, March 27, 2023, in Alliance Health at Baldwinville, after a period of declining health.

Born in Gardner on March 3, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Helen (Bukowski) Gemborys. She graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1950 and from Henry Heywood Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. Irene was a Registered Nurse for 40 years, employed by the former Fernald School of Templeton for many years until her retirement. She was previously employed by Gardner Manor Nursing Home and Heywood Hospital, both of Gardner. Irene encouraged many, many young people to become nurses as well.

Irene was a parishioner of the former St. Joseph Church of Gardner and St. Vincent DePaul Church of Baldwinville. She was also a member of the Nurses Alumni Association. Irene was an avid reader and loved to play cards with her family and take trips to Foxwoods. She loved to be out and about and enjoyed socializing with her friends from “The Patch .”Irene’s greatest joy was her family, treasuring all the time they spent together, especially the infamous Sunday roast beef dinners.

Irene’s beloved predeceased husband of 34 years, Edward M. Stacy Sr., was the love of her life. They cherished their family, enjoyed traveling to warm sunny places, and had “date night” every Saturday. Irene is survived by her four daughters, Karen H. Columbus and her husband Alan of Rindge, NH, Saundra A. Amistadi and her husband Richard of Templeton, Elizabeth B. White and her husband John of Baldwinville, and Patricia Stacy and her husband Douglas of Templeton; a son, Edward M. Stacy Jr and his significant other Tammi of Baldwinville; ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, a brother, Richard Gemborys of Brookline, NH; many nieces and nephews and several cousins.

She was predeceased by her four sisters, Gladys Stuckey, Genevieve Gemborys, Barbara Gebo, and Helena Breton; and nine brothers, Stanley, Eugene, Joseph, Walter, Bronislaw, Paul, Frank, Chester, and John Gemborys.

A Calling Hour will be held Friday, April 14, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 14, 2023, from the funeral home with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1 Forest Street, Baldwinville, MA. Burial at Pine Grove Cemetery, Patriots Road, Templeton, MA, will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
