Irene Chicoine

Irene (Desmarais) Chicoine, 92, of Gardner, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester.

Born in Winchendon, on December 21, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. Sr. and the late Alphonsine (Deshaies) Desmarais. She graduated from Conant High School in Jaffrey, New Hampshire in the class of 1950. Irene was a Radiologist Aid at Heywood Hospital for many years.

Irene actively volunteered at the gift shop in Heywood Hospital, and was a member of the West End Beagle Club Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, and partaking in the Two Hearts as One Square Dancing club with her late husband, Louis F. Chicoine Jr. She was also a member of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Church congregation in Gardner. Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Irene is survived by two sons, Lee F. Chicoine and his wife Dawn of Ashburnham, and Robert L. Chicoine and his wife Lisa of Gardner; a daughter, Linda M. Seward and her husband Thomas of Gardner; six grandchildren, Andrew, Sarah, and Jason Chicoine, Erin, Matthew, and Joshua Seward; five great grandchildren, Luke and Beau Chicoine, Gianna and Yiannis Silva, and Jonathan Seward; She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Aside for her husband Louis, Irene is predeceased by her brother: Edward Desmarais Jr; a sister, Mary Given; and a grandson, Nathan Chicoine.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday July 18, 2025 from 10:30-11:30 A.M. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Funeral Services will follow from the funeral home with a Mass at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial to be held at Saint Johns Cemetery to follow.
