Gerard E. Charland, 84, of Westminster, died peacefully Sunday, May 10, 2026, in his home surrounded by his family, after an illness.
Born in Gardner on September 14, 1941, he was the son of the late Gerard A. and Rose M. (Janssen) Charland. A graduate of Gardner High School. Jerry worked for many years as a salesman for George Lamoreaux Company. After retiring as a salesman he went on to work for Horrigan's Laundromat.
Jerry was a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor Church of Westminster and a life member of the Napoleon Club of Gardner. In his younger years he was actively involved with Westminster Little League, coaching softball and achieved many championships. Jerry loved staying active, whether golfing, boating, or spending time fishing on the water. Above all, his greatest joy in life was his family, treasuring every moment and memory shared throughout the years.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Cheryl L. (Fortin) Charland of Westminster; two daughters, Sherry Charland-Gallant and her husband Timotee of Ashburnham, and Melissa Arvanigian and her husband Mark of Boylston; five grandchildren, Mia, Elise and Charles Arvanigian and Steven's two sons, Mitchell and Jackson Charland as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and his best friend Neil Erickson.
He was predeceased by his son, Steven Charland, who died in 2003; and by his siblings, Michael F. Charland and Susan M. Bettez.
Calling Hours will be held May 15, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Funeral Services will follow at 6:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Westminster Community Food Pantry, c/o First Congregational Church, 138 Main Street, Westminster, MA 01473. Please reference in memory of Gerard E. Charland.
