Georgina M Desmarais

Georgina M. (Gallant) Desmarais, 83, of Winchendon, died peacefully Tuesday, June 25, 2019 in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Gardner, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

            Born in Prince Edward Island, Canada on August 4, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Mary (Richard) Gallant. She was employed as a private housekeeper, as well as employed by E.B. Kingman Company, Inc. of Leominster for 10 years, retiring in 1995.

Georgina was a member of St. Martin’s Catholic Church of Baldwinville. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening and she loved dogs. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Wilfred Gallant who died in 1985; and by her second husband, Norman Desmarais who died in 2016.

Georgina leaves her sons, George P. Gallant and his wife Deanna of Southaven, MS, and Bruce E. Gallant predeceased by his wife Giselle of Southaven, MS; daughters, Gizelle M. Gagne of Northfield, MA, Denise G. Pellerin and her husband Emile of Winchendon, and Lisa A. Duprey and her husband Tim of Ashburnham; stepson, Michael Desmarais of Winchendon; stepdaughter, Julie Simpson and her husband Roger of Fitzwilliam, NH; brothers, Zoel Gallant of Toronto, Canada and Wilfred Gallant of Bouctouche, Canada; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-greatgrandchild. She was predeceased by her brothers, Jean Gallant, Leonce Gallant, Arthur Blacquiere, Cyr Gallant and Peter Gallant; sisters, Dorothy Arsenault and Anne-Marie Arsenault; and grandson, Jeremy Pace.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 29th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.

A calling hour will be held Saturday, June 29th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
