George H. Racette

George H. Racette, 95, of Templeton, died peacefully Tuesday, March 7, 2023, in Alliance Health at Baldwinville, Templeton, after an illness with his family by his side.

Born in Gardner on March 16, 1927, he was the son of the late Arthur and Alphonsine (Gagne) Racette. He graduated from St. Anne Hermitage Preparatory School in Poughkeepsie, NY, with the Class of 1947 and attended Marist College. George was a Delivery Person employed by Horrigan Cleaners of Gardner for 25-years prior to his retirement. He was previously employed as a Milkman for A. Racette & Son’s Dairy of Gardner for 30-years.

George was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church of Templeton and was an Institutional Representative for Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. George was a Commissioner, Cub, and Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America for over 35-years and received the Diocese of Worcester Bishop St. George Scouting Award and the Community Service Award. George was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a founding member of the West End Beagle Club of Gardner. In his free time, he enjoyed playing dominos, mountain climbing, archery, walking, and reading. George’s greatest joy was his family, treasuring all the special moments they had together over the years.

George is survived by his daughter, Marie L. Morrissey and her husband James of Templeton; six grandchildren, Michael and Kate Racette, Matthew, Andrew and Amanda Morrissey, and Josh Willis; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife of 53-years, Estelle B. (Perreault) Racette; his two sons, Richard A. and James G. Racette; two brothers, Donald, and Gerard Racette; and two sisters, Sr. Jeannine Racette, MSC, and Sr. Mary Christine Racette, MSC.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 25 Lake Avenue, Templeton, MA. Burial at Calvary Cemetery, Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA, will be held in the spring.

Calling Hours will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
