George W. Jordan, 79, of Keene, NH and formerly of 2 Walnut St., Baldwinville, MA died Sunday in the Maplewood Nursing Home, Westmoreland, NH, following an illness.
Born in Kentville, Nova Scotia, Canada on March 16, 1924, he was the son of Malcolm L. and Lillian (Beach) Jordan.
He was employed by Seaman Paper Company of Baldwinville, MA for 34 years. His last position, prior to his retirement in 1975, was as superintendent.
He was an avid sportsman and was a life member of the Otter River Sportsman Club. He also belonged to the Winchendon Rod & Gun Club. He was a member of the American Legion, Roger P. Warfield Post #373 of Baldwinville, MA. Additionally, he was a member of the Southern Massachusetts Police Council, the Massachusetts Chief of Police Association and the Worcester County Deputy Sheriffs Association.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Coast Guard from 1942 to 1946.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, Dorothy L. (St.John) Jordan of Keene, NH; a son, Malcolm L. Jordan of Ajo, AZ; a daughter, Kathleen Innis of Gardner, MA; 3 step-daughters, Patricia R. LaPlante of Magnolia, TX, Helen L. Collier of Keene, NH and Martha E. (Brock) Deering of Hooksett, NH; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
There are no funeral services planned at this time.
Burial and a memorial service will be at the Mountain View Cemetery, Swanzey, NH at the convenience of the family.
