Gaiete M"Kitty" Dery

Gaiete M. "Kitty" (Houde) Dery, 94, formerly of 67 Draper Road, Gardner for many years, died peacefully Tuesday, November 3, 2015.
Born in Gardner on March 29, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Leonie Houde.
Kitty graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1939. She was employed by the City of Gardner in the school cafeteria for 20 years, retiring in 1982. She was also employed as a stitcher for Kuniholm Manufacturing Company.
Kitty was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner, and was a loyal volunteer of the annual church bazaar. She was also a member of the local and National A.A.R.P., Gardner Golden Agers, Red Hat Society, Chair City Bells, the Life Program and Silver Sneakers of Mount Wachusett Community College of Gardner. She was a volunteer for many years at Heywood Hospital of Gardner.
She enjoyed crafts, sewing, knitting and crocheting. Her passions were traveling, skiing, line dancing and square dancing.
Kitty was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Joseph R. Dery, who died January 20, 2004.
She leaves two daughters, Diane L. Homer and her husband Russell of Los Gatos, CA and Priscilla A. Dery of Arlington, MA; one brother, Henry Houde and his wife Mary of Sharon; two grandchildren, Christina Homer and Michael Homer; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Kity was predeceased by two brothers, Jean Paul Houde and Rene Houde.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 7th from Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 2:00 p.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour will be held Saturday, November 7th from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
