Florine Richard

Born in Acadieville, New Brunswick, Canada, on March 30, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Edmond and Josephine (Chevarie) Richard. Florine was employed by Digital Equipment Corporation of Westminster for over 30 years as a media room technician until she and her late husband moved to Florida in 1992. She was also employed by Mnemonics as an inventory and materials technician until her retirement in 2005. 

A devote catholic, Florine was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner, practicing at its Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, where she was also active in its poutine factory during its annual church bazaar. She will be remembered for not being afraid of hard work; always providing for her family and her attention to detail was exceptional. Florine enjoyed gardening, plants, painting, traveling to Canada on summer vacations, and spending time with her family. 

Florine is survived by a son, Gary J. Richard of Hubbardston; sisters, Anna D. Cormier of Gardner, Marie LeBlanc and her husband Yvon of Templeton, and Germaine Daigle of Rexton, NB, Canada; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

She was predeceased by her husband of 43-years, Gaston Richard; a son, Danny J. Richard; five sisters,Eva, Bertha, and Therese Richard, Eliza Babineau, Gemma Cormier; and three brothers, Adelard, Nazaire, and Irenee Richard.

The Richard Family would like to express an enormous thank you to the dedicated employees of the Highlands Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Fitchburg for the amazing love and care they had for Florine and all their residents, and a thank you to Beacon Hospice for their care and support over the past few weeks. You all brought such blessing and comfort. 

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 18, 2024, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA, will be held in the spring.

A Calling Hour will be held Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Highlands Dementia Unit Activity Fund, 335 Nichols Street, Fitchburg, MA 01420. Please reference in memory of Florine Richard.
