Eva L Ares

Eva L. (Lison) Ares, 92, of Fitchburg, formerly of Gardner, died peacefully Saturday, December 29, 2018 in The Highlands of Fitchburg.

                Born in Gardner on September 7, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Helene (Cormier) Lison.

                Eva was a Direct Care Worker for the Templeton Developmental Center of Templeton prior to retiring in 1980. She was previously employed by Gardner State Hospital.

                Eva was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. She enjoyed playing Bingo and playing cards – especially pitch and cribbage. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed gardening, and loved the ocean and spending time at Hampton Beach. Eva was an immaculate housekeeper who took great pride in her home. She loved the music of Engelbert Humperdinck, and she loved spending time with her family.

                She leaves her son, Paul L. Ares and his wife Doreen of Fitchburg; daughter, Donna M. Ares of Gardner; brother, Leo A. Lison and his wife May of Fitchburg; several nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews. Eva was predeceased by her former husband, Donald J. Ares; brother, Ernest Lison; and sisters, Anita Allain, Lena Demmler, Helen Wise and Doris Lison.

                Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 4th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.

                A calling hour will be held Friday, January 4th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.

                Memorial contributions may be made to JDRF-Juvenile Diabetes. New England Chapter, 60 Walnut Street, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481. Please reference in memory of Eva L. Ares.

                Eva’s family would like to thank Applewood Nursing Home, The Highlands and Beacon Hospice for the excellent care given to Eva over the years.
