Elizianne "Liz" Thibodeau

December 10, 1925 — December 11, 2017

Elizianne "Liz" (LeBlanc) Thibodeau, 92, of Gardner, died peacefully in her daughter's arms Monday, December 11, 2017 in Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, following a brief illness.
Born in Bouctouche, N.B. Canada on December 10, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Augustin and Christine (Cormier) LeBlanc. Liz was raised in Canada and graduated high school in her hometown of Bouctouche.
She was employed in the cafeteria of Mount Wachusett Community College of Gardner for 22 years, retiring in 1998. Liz was previously employed by Heywood Hospital of Gardner, and she had worked at the former Giants Store of Gardner from the day it opened until the day is closed.
She was a devoted member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner, where she attended Mass daily and volunteered with the church dinners.
Liz loved gardening, whether it was outside in her flower gardens or tending to her indoor plants she had a green thumb like no other. She loved feeding the birds and watching them from her kitchen window. Liz enjoyed knitting, and she was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and the Boston Bruins.
She was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Leo Thibodeau, who died in 1983, and by her son, Robert Thibodeau, who died in 2016.
Liz leaves one son, John Thibodeau and his wife Dianne of Myrtle Beach, SC; one daughter, LuAnn M. Thibodeau of Gardner; two grandchildren, Christine Yablonski and Robert Thibodeau, Jr.; her best friend, Mary Ruth; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves her grand fur-baby, Minion the cat, whom she talked to everyday and who made videos for her when she was in the nursing home. Liz was predeceased by three brothers, Raymond, Wilfred and Willie LeBlanc; and by five sisters, Sylvarine LeBlanc, Viola Dionne, Amanda LeBlanc, Helene LeBlanc and Delima Daigle.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 23rd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour will be held Saturday, December 23rd from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Covenant House, 461 8th Avenue, New York City, NY 10001.
