Edward G. Murphy

Edward “Ted” G. Murphy, 68, of Gardner, died unexpectedly Friday, August 27, 2021, in his residence after battling an illness.

Born in Wareham, Massachusetts on November 13, 1952, he was the son of the late Maurice G. and Ivy A. (Holt) Murphy. Ted was a United States Coast Guard Vietnam War Veteran serving from 1973 to 1977, where he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He went on to have a successful sales career in the furniture and automobile industries.

Ted was a bookworm and loved visiting the library to educate himself, keep up on current events, and to just read a good book. But the time he loved and treasured the most was spent with his family.

Ted is survived by his son, Ryan Weinstein of Centerville, two daughters, Heather Shingleton of Dover, NH and Shannon Frandsen of Cape Cod and now residing in Thailand; a sister, Jerolyn Deslauriers and her husband Wayne of Winchendon; three grandchildren, Isabel and Chloe Frandsen and Tobin Shingleton; nieces and nephews, Michael, Matthew, and Amy Deslauriers; an aunt, Alberta Gregory of N. Dartmouth; and several cousins.

Ted's my cousin🙂So I've known him since our childhood! When I would sleep over, his sister,Jeri and I had a blast!
I would go in Ted's room . I loved talking to him. He
had a good sense of humor and was a deep thinker even then. So happy to see that others who knew him commented here!
I'll see you again Ted 💗

I had the pleasure to work with Ted at MVOC. His love of his family and his thirst for knowledge through his reading was endless. I am honored to have worked with him. I will miss him dearly.
