Doris Mary (Melanson) Vienneau, 84, of Gardner, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 6, 2025, at Wachusett Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Gardner Mass, just one day shy of her 85th birthday.
Born in Joggins, Nova Scotia, Canada, on June 7, 1941. She graduated from Minto Memorial High School with the class of 1960. Doris raised her daughters in Waltham and Leominster, Massachusetts and Minto, New Brunswick.
In Minto, Doris worked at Gallagher's IGA bakery for many years. After her two daughters were grown. Doris moved back to Gardner in 1982 to be near her family working as a book inspector at Publishers Storage and Shipping then later as a sales associate at Walmart until her retirement. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Eva (Bourgeois) Melanson.
Doris was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner. Doris enjoyed bird watching, nature, especially the ocean, word puzzles, knitting and quilting beautiful memorable items for her family. She looked forward to her weekly Bingo and Keno games.
Doris is survived by daughter Cathie Vienneau of Minto, New Brunswick ; her grandchildren Cody (Debra) Vienneau of Alberta, Canada, Tara (Lee) Mayhugh of Tennessee and Chad Gallant of Florida and her five great-grandchildren, Audrey, Emmett, Brooklyn, Dayton and Brayden.
She also leaves behind a sister, Donna (Wayne) Dion of Florida; her sister-in-law, Claudette Melanson of Leominster; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her infant daughter Wanda Vienneau, her precious daughter Brenda Gallant; her great grandson Landon Mayhugh . Her loving brother, Donald Melanson; and her loving sisters, Norma Frigon and Anita Caissie.
Doris' family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the compassionate staff of Wachusett Manor, especially those in Unit 3, including Amy H., Katie R., Pam H., and Nurse Noreen, for the exceptional care, kindness, and concern they showed throughout Doris' stay. They went above and beyond to keep Doris connected with her long-distance family and ensured that her final days were filled with comfort, dignity, and peace.
In accordance with Doris's wishes, there are no services.
