Denise J. Adams

August 18, 1958 — December 1, 2023

East Templeton

Denise Jean (Hannula) Adams, 65, of East Templeton, died peacefully Friday, December 01, 2023, surrounded by family and friends after a brief illness.

Born in Athol on August 18, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Patricia (Springer) Hannula. She graduated from Narragansett Regional High School in 1976. Denise earned an associate degree from Mount Wachusett Community College in 1978. She began her career as an Insurance Agent at Waxlax Insurance and Lashua-Lachance & Poliks Insurance Agency until she eventually stopped working due to her illness from Hubb International Insurance.

Denise was a parishioner of Chestnut Street United Methodist Church. She volunteered for her church as much as she could. She organized both church suppers and the holiday craft fair. Denise did enjoy her crafts, working with cross stitching, ceramics, and crocheting. She had a booth at her church craft fairs and many others in the area. Denise was also her daughter Hannah’s Girl Scout troop leader for many years. In her free time, she would play bingo, take trips to the casinos, and would travel. Camping and trips to York Beach were her favorite. She would go to different breweries with her husband; one of her favorites was Wachusett Brew Yard. Denise cherished the country concerts she and Tom would attend together, seeing over 20 different artists. The most essential thing in Denise’s life was her family. She was blessed to be able to meet her granddaughter, Livianna, before her passing.

Denise is survived by her husband of 33 years, Thomas Adams of East Templeton; one daughter, Hannah Lewis and her husband Loranzo, of Enfield, CT; a granddaughter Livianna Lewis, of Enfield, CT;  two brothers, Gary Hannula, of East Templeton, James Hannula and his wife Heidi, of Gardner; two sisters, Karen Hannula of East Templeton, and Vicki Giblin, of East Templeton; one brother-in-law Jim Adams and his wife Melinda, of Fitchburg; two nieces Samantha and Kylie; three nephews Neil, Dale, and Jarrett; along with several aunts, uncles, great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, Denise was predeceased by one brother-in-law, William Giblin.
