Della Arseneau

Della (Arseneau) Arseneau, 88, of Gardner, died peacefully surrounded by her family Wednesday, January 4, 2023, in Alliance Health at Baldwinville, Templeton, after an illness.

Born in Rogersville, New Brunswick, Canada, on March 5, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Melas and Marguerite (Boucher) Arseneau. While living in Canada, Della worked as a Practical Nurse at Chatam Hospital. After moving to the United States, Della was an Assembler working in the Touch-up Department at Nichols & Stone Furniture of Gardner for eight years prior to her retirement. She was also a Cook and Housekeeper at the Rectory employed by Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner for fourteen years.

Della was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish/ Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner and was devoted to her faith, praying daily and watching religious television. She enjoyed baking and cooking, and she was known for her lemon meringue pies, poutines, and rappe. Della also loved to take trips to Canada to visit her family and friends.

Della is survived by her husband of 65-years, Leo Arseneau of Gardner; a daughter, Leola Palermo and her husband Joe of Demossville, KY; two sons, Mario Arseneau and his wife Karen of Gardner and Jean- Louis Arseneau and his wife Beth of Gardner; three grandchildren, Matthew Arseneau of Gardner, Angela Hill and her husband Erik of Gardner and Charlie Palermo and his wife Justyne of Helena, MT; three great-grandchildren, Silas Hill, Leo, and Lena Palermo; two sisters, Jeanelle McGraw and Claudine Landry, both of Rogersville, NB, Canada; four brothers, Gervais, Claude and Florent Arseneau, all of Rogersville, NB, Canada, and Alcide Arseneau of Gardner; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by a sister, Giselle Arseneau.

The family would like to thank all the nurses, staff and Dr. Havlin at Alliance Health at Baldwinville for the loving and compassionate care they provided.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2023, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial at Notre Dame Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA, will be held at a later date.
