Obituary

David A. Fortier, 74, of Westminster, died peacefully Thursday, June 18, 2026, at UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital in Leominster, after an illness.

Born in Leominster on December 15, 1951, he was the son of the late Arthur and Margaret S. (LaFleur) Fortier. He graduated from Nashoba Regional High School in Bolton with the Class of 1969. David proudly served his country as a United States Army Vietnam War veteran from 1970 to 1974 and later as a member of the United States Air Force, serving from 1978 until his retirement in 1995 during the Gulf War era. Throughout his distinguished military career, he was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Military Education Ribbon, and Air Force Training Ribbon. Following his retirement from military service, David was employed as a truck driver with Lowe's for many years.

David enjoyed spending time at the racetrack or watching the big race on television. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed riding his ATVs. Above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his family, cherishing the many memories they created together throughout the years.

He is survived by his brother, Edward Fortier; his sister, Lisa Manring and her husband, Roy; his sister-in-law, Jackie Fortier; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his brother, Paul Fortier.
