May 20, 1962 — Oct 20, 2026
Uxbridge
Daniel M. Groth, 64, of Uxbridge, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Rose Monahan Hospice House in Worcester, following a long illness.
Born in Springfield on May 20, 1962, he was the son of the late Daniel F. and Anne T. (Talcott) Groth. He graduated from Minnechaug Regional High School in Wilbraham with the Class of 1980. For over 10 years, Daniel was the proud owner and operator of Grateful Dan, an online business through Etsy, where he shared his creativity and artistic talents with others. Previously, he was employed by Custom Slide Services, Inc in Nashua, NH a professional photographer lab and prior to that, as a young man he worked at Agnoli Signs in Springfield, MA. However, of all the roles he held throughout his life, the one he cherished most was being a stay-at-home dad, dedicating himself wholeheartedly to raising his children and creating a lifetime of treasured memories with them.
Daniel was a talented and creative individual with a remarkable eye for beauty and detail. As a member of the New England Large Format Photography Collective (NELFPC), he had a true passion and exceptional gift for photography, capturing the beauty of the world around him through his lens. His artistic abilities extended beyond photography, as he also enjoyed creating colorful tie-dye designs and taking on home renovation projects, always finding satisfaction in bringing his creative visions to life. When it came time to relax and unwind, Daniel found peace and happiness in the beauty of New Hampshire, particularly at his beloved Squam Lake, a special place where he could escape the demands of everyday life and enjoy the tranquility of nature. Above all, Daniel's greatest pride and joy was his family. He treasured every moment spent with those he loved, finding his greatest happiness in the laughter, love, and countless memories they shared throughout the years. His creativity, warm spirit, and unwavering devotion to his family will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Judith (Lombardo) Groth of Uxbridge; his two beloved children, Emily Q. Groth of Boston and Daniel T. Groth of Natick; a brother, John G. Groth and his wife, Lisa, of Monson; a sister, Barbara Dewitt Groth of California; his aunts and uncles, Gerard and Kaysie Ives of Sandwich, NH, and Amy and Walter Atkins of Boston, VA; his in-laws, Deborah Degenhardt of Virginia, Anthony and Linda Lombardo of North Carolina, Robert E. Lewis II of Ohio, John Lombardo of Ohio, and Christine and David Sheflin of Florida; along with many well loved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents, Daniel was predeceased by his brother, Hooker T. Groth.
In accordance with Daniel's wishes, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rose Monahan Hospice House, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, MA 01602. Please indicate that the donation is being made in memory of Daniel M. Groth.
