Charles A. Frenier

Charles "Chucki¿½ A. Frenier, 86, of 51 Hospital Road, Baldwinville, formerly of Gardner, died Thursday in Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville, following an illness.
Born in Templeton on March 23, 1913, he was the son of Alfred C. and Catherine (Heffernan) Frenier.
He attended Wiggins School of Aviation in Norwood and obtained F.A.A. Licenses as an Aircraft and Powerplant Mechanic, Commercial Pilot, Ground Instructor and taught Aircraft mechanic courses at Wiggins School. He was employed until 1977 by General Electric of Lynn for several years where he was an instructor in their jet engine school. He later became a Technical Writer, Service Engineer on jet engines, and Project Planning Engineer on the Polaris Missile Program. He then returned to jet engines as manager of several lines of engine technical publications and finally as manager of all jet engine lines at Lynn. Following his retirement in 1977 he worked as a pilot and aircraft mechanic for Frenier Air Service of Gardner, and Gardner Airport for Hunt Aircraft Service.
He was a member of Holy Cross Church of East Templeton. He was member and past president of the Athol Orange AERO Club for 27 years; Charter member of Gardner AARP and Chairman of its Legislative Committee; President and Executive Board Member of the Athol-Gardner Catholic Friends; member of Templeton Council on Aging for 5 years and a 4 year member of the AARP Massachusetts State Legislative Committee.
He was WWII US Army Air Corps Veteran, received the American Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal and served in Trinidad, Dutch Guiana (Surinam), and Puerto Rico as an airplane mechanic and operations specialist.
His wife, Rachel (Trinque) Frenier died in 1994.
He leaves several nieces, nephews and one cousin. A sister, Katherine Cavanaugh of E. Templeton, died in 2001.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 9:30 am in Holy Cross Church, Lake Avenue, E. Templeton.

Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.

A calling hour at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 8:00am to 9:00am.
