Charles "Chuck" G. Reed

October 3, 1983 — February 28, 2024

Gardner

Charles "Chuck" Gregory Reed, 40, of Gardner, died unexpectedly Wednesday, February 28, 2024, in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.

Born in Leominster on October 3, 1983, he was the son of Robert and Lisa (Cavins) Reed of Gardner.  He attended Sacred Heart School for six years and graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 2002, where he was proud to be a 4-year letter winner state champion heavy-weight wrestler. Chuck was a dye setter employed by the Oliver Company, previously Boutwell and Owens, of Fitchburg for many years.

Chuck was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner, practicing at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church.  He was a member of the Gardner Rod and Gun Club and the Larson Bass Fishing Club.  Chuck was an avid outdoorsman who loved shooting, archery, and hunting—especially bird hunting and big game hunting in Maine with his clubmates, as well as hunting and fishing with his father.  He will be remembered for being a gentle giant, a man of few words, an overall good guy, and always willing to lend a hand.

Chuck was also a proud tissue donor.

Besides his parents, Chuck is survived by brother, Sean Reed and his wife Bridget of Osterville; nieces and nephews, Jack, Beau, Isla, and Eloise Reed, all of Osterville; aunts and uncles, Kathy Knuuttila and her husband Brian of New Smyrna, FL, Donna Fluet and her husband Moe of Fitchburg, Patricia Paszek and her husband Glenn of Clarksville, TN, and Diane Reed of Fitchburg; and several cousins.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, George and Mille Reed, Henry Cavins and Dorothy Donnelly; and two uncles, Gregory Cavins and George Reed.
