Carolyn M. (Howe) Gallant, 91, of Gardner, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in Wachusett Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Gardner, after a period of declining health with her family by her side.
Born in Brattleboro, Vermont, on November 18, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Victoria (Gunzinger) Howe. She graduated from Troy (NH) High School with the Class of 1953. Carolyn was a cafeteria worker employed by Simplex Time Recorder of Gardner for 15 years until her retirement in 1998.
Carolyn was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner, practicing at its Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. She was a member of Silver Sneakers and enjoyed staying active by doing aerobic classes and walking. Carolyn loved gardening, keeping her flower beds and vegetable gardens in pristine condition, as well as cooking. Her greatest love and true treasure in life was her family and her close friends, including Irene Mazur, Pat Lajoie, and Jeanne Richard, whom she treasured for all the times they spent together.
Carolyn is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey J. Gallant of Gardner and James Gallant and his wife Maureen of Gardner; two daughters, Heidi L. Sylvester and her husband Daniel of Hopkinton and Vickie A. Gallant of North Andover; six grandchildren, Peter Gallant and his fiancée Madellin Quiterio of Arlington, Sam Gallant and his wife Haley of Gardner, Brandon Sylvester of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Katlin Sylvester of Hopkinton, Brandon Williams and his wife Renee of Gardner, and Devin Williams of Gardner; a great-grandchild, Josephine Gallant; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Normand J. "Custard" Gallant, who died in 2007.
Calling Hours will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Funeral Services will follow from the funeral home with a Mass at 12:00 p.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA.
Burial at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon, MA, will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Montachusett Veterans Outreach Center Inc, 268 Central St Gardner, Ma 01440, and/or Gardner Animal Shelter, c/o Gardner Police Department, 200 Main Street, Gardner, MA 01440. Please reference in memory of Carolyn M. Gallant.
